With Station-Infoscreen high-performance projectors project image sequences and short movies onto large screens that are mounted on the other side of the tracks. There is no sound so as not to disturb waiting passengers. What you can see on each screen is generated by a playout PC. This PC retrieves the latest text, picture and video information as well as control commands for the sequence of this information from a server in the station that itself is connected to headquarters in Munich over DSL. When a train comes into the station, the program is interrupted.
Over the DSL connection Infoscreen headquarters is capable of checking the operating condition of the servers, PCs and projectors at the individual locations at any time and at the same time update the program at short notice.
Central-Infoscreens are very bright, high-contrast large plasma displays with an aspect ratio of 16:9. The screens are mounted on free-standing columns at central points of train station concourses. They have an overall height of approx. 4 m. (13 ft.) and measure between 2.15 (85 in.) and 3.2 m. (126 in.) diagonally.
Program content on the individual screens is uploaded from the content management center to the local server and displayed by a PC. So there’s no problem updating the program at short notice.
The operation status of each and every Central-Infoscreen can be checked at any time by the Infoscreen content management center.
